The 5 Points of Yoga

Learn yoga with the help of these five easy principles from Swami Vishnudevananda. They are a synthesis of the classical yoga teachings:

Proper Exercise (Asanas)

Enhances the flexibility of the joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments. The asanas improve circulation,massage the internal organs and improve organ function.

A flexible and strong spine enhances blood circulation and keeps the body young and powerful.

Proper Breathing (Pranayama)

Connects the body to its battery, the solar plexus, which is an enormous reservoir of energy. Deep, conscious breathing boosts our daily energy reserves – stress and many diseases (for example, depression) can be alleviated in this way.

Proper Relaxation (Savasana)

If the body and mind are subjected to constant overload, their performance suffers. A few minutes of physical, mental and spiritual relaxation counteract worry and fatigue more effectively than several hours of uneasy sleep.

Proper Diet (Vegetarianism)

Proper diet is one that is simple, natural and health promoting, and can be easily digested and assimilated by the body. It consists of food products that have the most positive effects on the body and mind, while having the fewest negative effects on the environment and on other creatures.

Although not necessary to begin your yoga journey, a few more vegetarian meals a week could help you feel lighter and more healthy.

Positive Thinking and Meditation (Vedanta and Dyhana)

Are the keys to peace of mind. By controlling the movements of the mind, we can eliminate negative thought patterns and experience deep inner peace.

Classes are then run in ten week blocks and the investment is £100. Pay pro rata if a course has begun already.

 

Classes are held on a Monday evening at 6.30pm-7.45pm in York Road, Broadstone.

CHAIR YOGA 

This Chair Yoga class is perfect for you if you wish to increase mobility in a gentle way due to:

  •  Ageing and loss of mobility and strength (this is also a great gift for parents!)

  •  Illness or injury that needs healing movement

  •  Anyone who wants a gentle and restorative movement practice

 

Please come and try a class for £5 and see if you like it.

 

Classes are then run in six week blocks and the investment is £60. Pay pro rata if a course has begun already.

 

Classes are held on a Tuesday morning at 10.30am-11.45am in York Road, Broadstone.
